Key Information:
Job Title: Senior Cryogenic Mechanical Systems Engineer
Working Hours: Full-Time (40 hrs P/W)
Location: Home Office & Darmstadt.
Salary: 85,000 - 105,000 (EUR)
Lanaguage: English Speaking/Writing: Fluent - German Speaking: Preferred.
Day-to-Day:
- Primarily focus on utilizing thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and structural mechanics to develop cryostats, valve boxes, and associated cryogenic technologies.
- Manage general design responsibilities, including overseeing requirements, material and component selection, performing Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and conducting tolerance analysis.
- Conduct detailed design, analysis, and testing of system components like cryostats, cryogenic distribution systems, and cryoplant systems.
- Spearhead the creation of validation test plans for cryogenic mechanical systems, overseeing the tests and evaluating the results.
- Innovate methods, and approaches, meticulously documenting design inputs and outputs.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- B.Sc., M.Sc., or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or Physics.
- Proficiency in software tools such as Mathcad, ANSYS and Matlab.
- Experience working with cryogenic systems, cryostats, cryocoolers, cryogenic distribution systems, vacuum pumps, & cryoplants.
- Familiarity with ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Code and PED Pressure Vessel Code.
- Knowledge of best practices in designing & assembling cryogenic equipment, including materials and manufacturing constraints.
- Experienced utilising advanced tools such as FEA or CFD
- Hands-on experience in fabrication methods. For example, welding, soldering etc.
